How Stay or Quit works
Stay or Quit is a simple reflection tool. It doesn’t tell you what to do — it helps you understand what your own answers are pointing toward. As you go through the steps, your stay/quit probability updates in real time.
In short
You choose what your dilemma is about, answer a few lightweight questions, watch a Stay vs Quit probability update as you respond, and then either:
- make a deliberate choice, or
- let a weighted coin flip decide for you.
1. Pick your theme
You choose the context for your dilemma:
- My job
- A general life decision
This tailors the prompts to the situation you’re thinking about.
2. Answer a few questions
Each theme has a short list of questions about how you feel, how sustainable the situation is, and how urgent the decision seems.
You answer using simple scales or yes/no choices. The tool turns your responses into a single evolving percentage.
2½. Use the Runway Calculator
If your dilemma is about your job, you’ll see a question about your financial runway — how many months you could sustain yourself if you left.
You can answer manually or open the
Runway Calculator, which helps you estimate your runway based on salary, savings, severance, benefits, and spending.
3. Watch the probability update
As you answer, the app tracks one number: the likelihood of staying. It updates continuously at the top of the screen.
It isn’t a verdict — it’s a reflection of where your answers lean.
4. Make your choice
At the end, you’ll see three options:
- I choose to stay
- I choose to quit
- Let fate decide (weighted coin flip)
5. Let fate decide
The coin flip respects your probability:
- 70% stay → 70% chance of landing Stay
- 30% stay → 70% chance of landing Quit
- 50% stay → a true 50/50
6. Resolve another dilemma
When you’re finished, reset the tool and explore another situation.
